Letters From the Haggards

For the past week, I've heard snippets of talk and seen a few blogs regarding the situation with Ted Haggard. I hadn't heard the story of what happened. I always seem to be a little behind on current events. I had just heard people's responses and had to gather bits of information as I went. Until, finally, my interest has been sparked enough to go back and learn what happened. The thing that caught my attention the most, however, were these letters.

See for yourself.

Jamie- Dan is a member of the NAE and we discussed this matter theologically at church tonight. I read Mr. Haggard's letter prior to church not knowing that this situation would be the topic of discussion. I was so thankful to read these letters and truly moved by the honesty. I am praying that God will restore Mr. Haggard just like 1John 1 promises. I guess we will see won't we? Thanks for this post!

Thank you for the encouraging words of repentance shown here in these letters. The truth is, we are all sinners, we are all susceptible the most Horrific sins, and we are ALL guilty before a holy God. May the Lord discipline Ted and bring him back to a right relationship to Himself.

As for those who say -- he has always been a gay man...I leave these verses alone.

"Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually imooral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greddy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such WERE some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name o the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God." 1 Cor. 6:9-11

Praise the Lord for His grace for saving so many of us from such sin and gross idolatry. May we fight hard, by the grace of the Lord, against returning to such sin.
